Square Wave Old-School Germanium Fuzz
Big, squishy Fuzz Face chonk at one end. Broken, snarling Fuzzrite-style destruction at the other. And everything in between.
This is an old-school germanium fuzz for players who want more than one vintage fuzz flavour from the same box. Keep things restrained and you get that thick, round and touch-sensitive Fuzz Face response. Push the Gain and Attack controls and it transforms into something much nastier – compressed, ragged and almost broken, with the aggressive bark of a vintage Fuzzrite.
Better still, it’s remarkably easy to live with. It cleans up beautifully from your guitar’s volume control, works astonishingly well with humbuckers and can be placed anywhere in your signal chain – no need to reorganize your entire pedalboard just to keep your fuzz happy.
Two Vintage Fuzz Personalities
At lower Gain settings with the top end rolled back, the pedal delivers classic germanium warmth: fat lows, soft compression and that unmistakable squishy response under the fingers.
Turn up the Gain, brighten the tone and push Attack towards full tilt and things get considerably less polite. The sound becomes tighter, more compressed and increasingly aggressive, eventually reaching a destroyed, Fuzzrite-inspired grind that sounds like the circuit is about to fall apart – in exactly the right way.
Hand-Selected Germanium
The circuit uses measured and matched germanium transistors, carefully selected for consistent performance and a low signal-to-noise ratio. The result retains all the harmonic complexity, compression and responsiveness that makes a great germanium fuzz special without unnecessary hiss and noise.
Made to Be Played
This is a highly touch-sensitive circuit that responds directly to your picking dynamics and guitar controls. Roll back your guitar volume and it opens up into shimmering, overdriven textures; turn it back up and the full-bodied fuzz returns immediately.
Unlike many vintage-style fuzz circuits, it doesn’t demand the first position on your pedalboard. Place it wherever it works best in your rig. It’s also unusually happy with humbuckers, retaining definition and harmonics even when pushed into heavy fuzz.
