Shift modes

Toggle modes provide easy access to features and customizations:
• Stomp mode: Assign and activate all blocks in a rig to a foot pedal in the same way you would work with an analog pedalboard.
• Stage Mode: Select a foot pedal to instantly activate and control the settings of any number of blocks within a rig.
• Preset mode: Choose between 8 different Virtual Rigs.

Not only have Neural DSP managed to build the most powerful floor modeler/multi-effects processor in the industry, they have also managed to pack it all into an extremely compact form factor. The Quad Cortex comes in a sleek anodized aluminum chassis with laser-etched graphics that will never fade. Gig view and setlists

Setlists are Quad Cortex's way of making presets incredibly easy to organize. A setlist can contain 32 banks of 8 presets, and you can create as many setlists as you want. Setlists allow users to categorize their presets by band, project, album, or similar. Neural DSP has added Gig View to all switching modes (Stomp/Scene/Preset), making it even easier to see what's on the screen when you're in front of your Quad Cortex. Gig View allows you to visualize what the footswitches are assigned to. This visualization uses the entire screen.

Already have the world's best amps waiting for you at home? Digitize them and take them on the road using Neural DSP's powerful Neural Capture feature. Unlike traditional capture models, Neural Capture uses machine learning to replicate the sophisticated interaction between amp, cab, pedal, and player. Capture complete rigs or component parts

Neural Capture digitizes your favorite real-world amps, cabs, and pedals down to the building-block level. Let's say you've got a JCM Hot Mod you just can't gig without or a particularly smooth-sounding TS pedal you want to front-end other amps with. 10 set lists, 256 presets per set list

The Neural DSP Quad Cortex lets you organize your user presets into 10 set lists with 256 presets per set list for 2560 total presets. Now you can organize by band, project, genre, or date, allowing you to step through patches sequentially without stopping the flow of creativity. Searchable user tags (“djent,”“SRV,” etc.) help you quickly locate the tones you're jonesing for — no more browsing and auditioning to locate that special rig.

Three modes of operation

A tap of the Active Mode soft button or a press of the two bottom-right footswitches cycles the Quad Cortex's three operation modes. Modes let you get the most out of your Quad Cortex's footswitch and patch customization.

• Stomp Mode : transforms the Quad Cortex into an elegant analog-styled pedalboard. Here you can activate or disable any block in a rig just by assigning it to a dedicated switch and tapping.
• Scene Mode : activate multiple blocks (overdrive and boost; reverb and delay) in a rig at once. Each preset has eight scenes recallable from switches A–H.

What separates Quad Cortex from all the other guitar amp emulators out there?

User experience, UI design, and ease of use. Quad Cortex entered a market that already had great, very realistic-sounding devices. We knew we could match the sound quality because of how we established ourselves with our plug-ins, but we saw a huge gap in the market when it came to ease of use. What does a Quad Cortex user get right out of the box? Can you just plug in and go?

A user gets hundreds of amplifiers, cabs, overdrives, effects, utilities, Neural Captures, and more right out of the box. What is Neural Capture and how does it work?

By miking up a cabinet, connecting your amplifier to a load box, or connecting a drive pedal, you can follow the on-screen diagram to create a Neural Capture. During the creation process, you will hear a lot of peculiar sounds where the Quad Cortex is utilizing an algorithm we created with a neural network trained to perceive sound akin to a human ear to replicate the sonic characteristics of the target device with unprecedented accuracy.

How easy is it to integrate Quad Cortex into an existing rig (ie, old-school amplifier, pedals, rack units, etc.)?

It's very easy! The combination of the two effects loops plus the flexible routing possibilities of The Grid make it so that five or seven cable methods are a breeze. You can put outboard effects before or after an amplifier in Quad Cortex or use it simply as a pedal platform.

How intuitive is Quad Cortex? Is there a steep learning curve?

DC

Quad Cortex is the most intuitive and easy-to-use device of its kind. Its 7-inch touch screen and rotating footswitches make everything quick and easy. Of course, you can get complex with advanced routing and MIDI features, but if you just want to play around with creating signal chains and changing the parameters of different devices, it couldn't be easier!

How durable is Quad Cortex? Can it withstand the rigors of touring?

DC

Of course! Quad Cortex is built from anodized aluminum, the screen is chemically strengthened, and the footswitches are stainless steel. We've dropped, thrown, jumped on, run over, and done just about everything to test the durability. Our extensive roster of internationally touring artists is also using it to great success!

In fact, to put it through its paces, we took it to a testing facility to see how its components would withstand vibration, temperature, and humidity. Quad Cortex was powered on and had a tone running through it to ensure it continued to produce sound.

In the temperature tests, Quad Cortex performed flawlessly at a level expected of military specification components through to 70 degrees Celsius (158 degrees Fahrenheit). We also conducted a 15-minute test at 70 degrees Celsius (158 degrees Fahrenheit) and 95% humidity, which Quad Cortex passed with no issues.

Each of the vibration tests concluded with a 100% pass. We then used a sweeping frequency to find Quad Cortex's resonant frequency. We put the unit through a series of tests, increasing vibration amplitude up to 20 G. Quad Cortex was operational for the full 40-minute resonant frequency test and passed.

Overall, Quad Cortex performed far beyond the level that devices in its category are expected to perform.
