SSHAC Chorus/Vibrato Pedal by Browne Amplification
The SSHAC, or “Sky Snake Hawk Attack Chorus,” was born out of our desire for an analog bucket brigade chorus pedal that felt just out of reach. We set out to build upon all the things we loved from the classics by breathing new life into what we feel is the perfect chorus. This included making sure the SSHAC retained low end, had no volume drop, and offered faster modulation speeds.
With the ability to do everything from slow, lush, ballad-inducing chorus to Leslie-esque rotary tones, all the way to pure, warm and beautiful vibrato, the SSHAC gives you access to anything you can dream up.
Outputs & Stereo Operation
The Wet output runs through the analog bucket brigade circuit and carries the signal shaped by the Blend control. The Dry output is pulled directly from the input buffer stage. Together, these outputs allow the SSHAC to run in stereo, giving you everything from a subtle yet wide spread to an intense, dizzying wash of modulation.
When running the SSHAC in mono, use the Wet output only.
Controls
Blend controls the mix of dry and modulated signal sent to the Wet output, allowing everything from subtle chorus to pure vibrato.
- Fully clockwise, to the right: Completely dry, with no modulation.
- Fully counterclockwise, to the left: Pure vibrato, with no dry signal.
- Settings in between: Varying degrees of chorus.
Depth controls the amplitude of pitch modulation. Lower settings produce a more subtle effect, while higher settings create more dramatic pitch variation.
- Fully counterclockwise: Minimum pitch deviation.
- Fully clockwise: Maximum pitch deviation.
Speed controls how quickly the pitch modulates. The rate LED beneath the Speed knob shows the modulation speed.
- Fully counterclockwise: Minimum speed.
- Fully clockwise: Maximum speed.
Analog Character
Since the SSHAC is a fully analog bucket brigade chorus, the top end rolls off slightly and becomes warmer as you set Blend closer to pure vibrato. This is due to the filtering required to eliminate clock noise in the circuit.
