The IR-2 packs the inspiring sounds of classic tube amps and up-firing speaker cabinets into a small stompbox, giving you access to studio-quality sound on quiet stages, on-air tours, recording assignments, and at-home practice. Drawing on decades of BOSS audio expertise, each pick delivers the same expressive nuances and dynamic touch response of a traditional amp with speakers. The sound quality is also top-notch thanks to advanced DSP, 32-bit floating-point processing, and a 96 kHz sampling rate.
Inspiring sound for all musical styles
Eleven solid platforms cater to every taste of guitar amp from famous tube combos to vintage and modern stacks. There are also many original BOSS amps, including a high-gain Brown taken from the Katana series. All amps are paired with select Celestion digital IRs for instantly polished sounds. If you prefer to use speaker IRs from your own collection, you can load them into the pedal via USB-C and a dedicated app.
Instant sound creation
The IR-2's intuitive user interface has you ready to play in seconds. Simply select an amp type and tweak the sound with familiar amp-like controls. Then turn the Ambience knob to add some natural space and depth if you like. You can plug your other pedals into the IR-2's input just as you would into an amp. If you want to take it a step further, you can use a send/return loop to add modulation, delay, and reverb effects to the signal chain after the amp sound. TRS connectors on the return support stereo signals, allowing you to receive stereo effects and pass them through to the IR-2's audio outputs.

Stage performances
Take the guesswork out of great stage sound and perform with consistent sound at every venue. By sending a signal from the IR-2's outputs to the venue's PA system, you get a studio-quality signal that's unaffected by the various environmental factors at the venue. If you need more than one amp sound when you're playing, you can switch between two different IR-2 amp and speaker settings using the pedal's switch or an external footswitch.
Recording
The IR-2's USB-C connector lets you send the audio from your entire rig directly to a recording program. Add tracks to entire productions in a computer-based recording program. Or plug in your smartphone and capture inspiration on the go. You can monitor audio from the IR-2 and your recording program via headphones, eliminating the need for a separate sound card.
