The BJFE Dyna Red Distortion is a dynamic, harmonic, and Plexi-inspired distortion pedal originally released on May 9, 2001. Inspired by classic British amplifiers such as the vintage Marshall JTM45, the DRD delivers everything from crunchy low-gain drive to powerful, full-bodied distortion when used with a clean amplifier.
One of the defining characteristics of the DRD is its exceptional dynamic response. With the Dist control set below noon, the pedal reacts strongly to picking dynamics, allowing you to control the amount of distortion directly with your playing. Turning the control past noon produces a thicker, more compressed distortion with long sustain and consistent gain.
The DRD pairs beautifully with clean amplifiers, where it can recreate classic British amp tones with impressive realism. It also stacks extremely well with other BJFE pedals such as the LGW, EGDM, HBOD, and BBOD. In fact, the original concept envisioned the DRD working together with the BBOD, creating a wide tonal palette from sweet overdrive and crunchy distortion to aggressive fuzz-like textures.
Compared to the BBOD, the DRD is more dynamic and less compressed while offering higher gain and stronger low-mid presence. The result is a distortion that feels lively, aggressive, and extremely responsive under the fingers.

Controls
