The BJFE Royal Jelly Boost is BJFE’s first dedicated guitar pickup booster, designed not only to increase gain but also to shape the resonant character of your pickups. Rather than acting as a simple volume boost, the Royal Jelly Boost allows you to fine-tune how your guitar’s pickups interact with the amplifier.
Passive guitar pickups naturally produce a resonant peak at the upper edge of their frequency range. This peak is influenced by internal and external capacitance as well as the load placed on the pickup by cables, pedals, and amplifiers. The height and shape of this peak are what give different pickups their distinctive tonal character.
The Royal Jelly Boost allows you to control and shape this resonance. By adjusting the treble boost and resonance range, you can enhance clarity, emphasize upper mids, or smooth the high-frequency response depending on the guitar and amplifier you are using.
This makes the pedal particularly useful for balancing different guitars. For example, you can boost a single-coil pickup while shaping its high-frequency response to maintain fullness and clarity, or match the output and tonal balance between two different instruments.
The result is a booster that not only increases signal level but also helps bring out the unique voice of each guitar.
