Stromer Mutroniks 30th Anniversary 2N5133 Fuzz celebrates 30 years since Stromer built his very first fuzz pedal.
For the anniversary, Stromer Mutroniks has created a special run of Ram’s Head-style fuzz pedals built around four rare late-1960s Fairchild TO-106 2N5133 transistors – the same type of transistor used in some of the earliest Big Muff circuits.
The result is a rich, saturated and distinctly vintage-voiced fuzz with the smooth sustain, harmonic complexity and singing character associated with classic Ram’s Head designs. The rare transistor set gives each pedal a particularly authentic old-school foundation, making this a special build for players who appreciate historically inspired fuzz circuits and carefully selected components.
30 Years of Fuzz
This model marks three decades of Stromer Mutroniks fuzz building. Rather than simply creating a commemorative finish, Stromer chose to celebrate the anniversary with something genuinely special inside the circuit: a matched set of four vintage Fairchild 2N5133 transistors from the late 1960s.
Rare Fairchild 2N5133 Transistors
The TO-106 Fairchild 2N5133 is closely associated with early Big Muff production and has become increasingly difficult to source. Using four of these vintage transistors gives the 30th Anniversary fuzz a direct connection to some of the most sought-after fuzz tones of the late ’60s and early ’70s.
Classic Ram’s Head Character
Expect thick sustain, smooth clipping, rich upper harmonics and the broad, powerful voice that made Ram’s Head-style fuzz circuits legendary. It can move from creamy lead tones to huge walls of fuzz while retaining the musical compression and character that define the classic design.
