SUPA is based on the early MKI prototype version of the Marshall* Supa Fuzz of the 1960’s. Ripping, blooming fat fuzz tones, huge chords, singing single note sustain that flows into feedback. The SUPA MKI is the missing link between the MKI Tonebender’s* texture and sizzle, and the thick sustain and voice of the MKII Tonebender*, with a unique tone and feel all its own. SUPA uses three NOS Soviet Germanium transistors to push the Tonebender* sound into a new direction. Blooming low end, ripping explosions, and ultimate dynamic response describe its best qualities. SUPA also uses NOS capacitors and carbon film resistors, and is hand made on custom thru-hole PCB.
A few simple mods takes SUPA into the modern era, including a more stable biasing of the buffer stage, an internal trim pot to adjust texture and gating, and an output capacitor the original should have included to stabilize the circuit. External controls for Filter and Volume (same as on the original) are all SUPA needs for a wide dynamic range. With the “fuzz” or “attack” fixed at full internally, the Filter control adjusts the high end content from softer highs to open sizzle, while the Volume works as you’d expect with plenty on tap! Nickel hammer finish with Black print for a classic SUPA look, 9v power jack (isolated only!) or battery snap, integrated LED indicator and true bypass are standard on all SUPA MKI fuzzes.
