Vintage Octave Fuzz
Originally launched in 2017, the F-Octave returns to the Diamond lineup with its signature high-gain silicon fuzz, crafted in tribute to the legendary Foxx Tone Machine of the 70s. The F-Octave picks up the fuzz legacy delivering raw, expressive tones with a character all its own. At its heart F-Octave is a finely tuned, discrete analog fuzz circuit designed for rich harmonic content and dynamic response. The layout is simple and intuitive, staying true to the spirit of classic stompboxes, but with added flexibility to shape your sound.
Main Features
- Analog Silicon Fuzz and Octave Effects Pedal
- Octave Toggle Switch - for selecting between two types of fuzz Up: Fuzz only Down: Fuzz and Octave Up
- Fuzz Control for setting the amount of fuzz you want
- Tone Control for boosting or cutting high frequencies in your tone, ranging from +/- 6 dB at 750 Hz
- LPF Control for adding in a soft roll-off to the high frequencies, at 2 KHz +/- 3 dB • Level Control to adjust the overall output level
- Top-mounted jacks and soft touch relay switching
- True Bypass
- Hand-made in Montreal, Canada
- Powered by a regular 9-18 V DC PSU (centre -, 2,1 mm, ~20 mA current draw)
Engage the octave mode to unlock searing, upper-register harmonics that cut through any mix with vintage attitude and synth-like texture. Switch it off, and you're greeted with a warm, fat fuzz - full of woolly midrange and smooth compression, perfect for leads, chords, or riff-driven grooves.
Shape the sound of your fuzz with the LPF and TONE knobs and highlight the upper octave. Start with the LPF fully clockwise and the TONE control at noon for a balanced foundation. From there, tweak the TONE control to emphasize your ideal frequency - counterclockwise for warmer or darker tones, clockwise for a brighter fuzz, and adjust the LPF to smooth out and refine your tone to perfection.
The F-Octave's octave-up effect shines with single notes, delivering killer tones that cut through - especially above the 12th fret. Break new ground by using it for heavy chording, creating gnarly random overtones as the octave circuit searches for the root note. Double-stop bends produce a twisted multi-octave sound, with the high octave climbing while a subtle sub-octave slowly drops in pitch. Switch off the octave for a more straightforward fuzz.
The F-Octave plays beautifully with both guitar and bass, making it a versatile tool whether you're chasing stoner rock saturation, garage grit, or classic psych tones. Roll your volume back and explore everything from sputtery breakup to thick sustain. Crank it, and it howls. This is fuzz the way it used to be: bold, unpredictable, and endlessly fun. Plug in, switch on the octave, and rediscover why fuzz never went out of style.
