Designed for Maximum Control
Featuring a fast attack and carefully tuned compression characteristics, the Woodshed Comp gives your notes exceptional sustain without sacrificing clarity.
The controls provide a wide, highly usable range for ratio, threshold and output level, making it easy to dial in subtle enhancement or more pronounced compression. The expanded threshold range also allows the pedal to work beautifully with lower-output pickups, including vintage-style single coils.
Three Carefully Selected Attack Modes
Instead of a continuously variable attack control, the Woodshed Comp features a three-position toggle switch with Andy Wood's preferred fast, medium and slow attack settings.
This makes dialing in the perfect response quick, intuitive and repeatable for any guitar or playing style.
Exceptional Headroom & Clean Boost Capability
One of the Woodshed Comp's standout features is its enormous headroom. With significantly more clean headroom than most compressor pedals, it can also function as an outstanding clean boost with little or no compression.
Placed at the front of your signal chain, it can push the input of a tube amplifier into rich natural saturation while maintaining excellent note definition and dynamic response.
Feed-Forward VCA Compression
While both the Woodshed Comp and Suhr's Koji Comp use VCA technology, the Woodshed employs a completely different feed-forward gain reduction architecture.
Unlike traditional feed-back compressor designs, the feed-forward topology monitors the input signal to control gain reduction. The result is a more open, transparent and studio-like compression character with outstanding clarity and minimal coloration.
After extensive testing against Andy Wood's favourite vintage pedals and rack compressors, this design proved to deliver the most natural and musical results.
