Scott McKeon SM Octaveon

At its core, the circuit in the Octaveon is a vintage style octave/fuzz which uses analogue circuitry to rectify and mix the guitar signal with a phase-inverted version of itself producing higher octave harmonics. In addition, certain lower frequencies are cancelled out, accentuating the effect.

By limiting the higher frequencies in the guitar signal, the usable octave characteristics can be improved, and so the “Wonder” switch was added which cuts frequencies above approximately 600Hz.

Lastly, to push the flexibility of the circuit even further, a “Clean Blend” control was added, which bypasses the phase inverter to blend some clean signal back in at the output.
