Modified slightly with NOS germanium transistors and housed in a large vintage lime green sparkle enclosure.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eIn 2025, I created a few more versions of the circuit in fluorescent pink Tone Bender MKI enclosures, again all hand-wired and individually tuned.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eI’ll never not love this circuit, and as such I’ve wanted to find a way for more of you to get your hands on it – but with a much smaller and more practical footprint.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eIn its new form, the \u003cstrong\u003eEAO\u003c\/strong\u003e comes loaded with \u003cstrong\u003ethree NOS germanium transistors, a NOS germanium diode and an onboard transformer\u003c\/strong\u003e. This is the most up-to-date, vintage-sounding fuzz we make, and as pleasing from the very first note as you could want any fuzz to be.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eControls\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAll of the controls are highly interactive. For example, changes to Bias affect the Sustain, and vice versa.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eFOOTSWITCH – ON\/OFF\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nTrue bypass.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSUSTAIN\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nChanges the amount of long, violin-like sustain available as you ride every note and hold every chord.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTONE\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nChanges the fuzz tonality from thicker and bass-heavy through to searing and treble-focused.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eVOLUME\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nActs as a master volume, helping to balance the overall output – especially when the Bias and Sustain controls are positioned to maximise volume that would otherwise be uncontrollable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBIAS\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\nFundamentally changes the character of the fuzz. You can move from thinner and spottier fuzz all the way through to a full-throated gain monster.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003ePlacement\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBecause of the onboard transformer, the EAO will sit comfortably \u003cstrong\u003eanywhere on your pedalboard\u003c\/strong\u003e. Placement is simply a matter of personal preference.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003ePower\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe EAO is designed to be powered by a \u003cstrong\u003e9V DC, centre-negative, 2.1mm power supply\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eImportant:\u003c\/strong\u003e Do not attempt to use this pedal with other voltages or polarities. ThorpyFX pedals feature power protection circuitry, and use of an incorrect voltage or polarity may shut the pedal down and require it to be returned to ThorpyFX HQ for repair.
